One of two bosses in the chancel showing an angel holding a shield. The diagonal red cross was a medieval heraldic symbol.
The angel is wearing a crown and is dressed in a similar way to the monarchs in the ‘Ceiling of Kings’ also found in the Chancel, although some of the painted details are twentieth-century.
